RainyDay.ie earns a small commission on some links. How that works, what it costs you (nothing), and why it never decides which products we recommend.
Where the money comes from
RainyDay.ie is free to read and carries no paid placements.
It's funded by affiliate commission: when you click through to a shop from one of our product links and buy something, the shop pays us a small percentage of the sale.
Most of those links go to Amazon.ie. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
What it costs you
Nothing. You pay the same price whether you arrive through our link or go to the shop directly. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your basket.
It also doesn't matter what you buy. If you click through to a dehumidifier and end up buying something else entirely, the shop may still pay a commission on that order, but it has no effect on your price.
Why commission doesn't pick the products
Commission rates differ between product categories, and a dearer product earns more than a cheap one. If money decided our picks, every page would push the most expensive option.
They don't. The black mould guide recommends cleaning a small patch yourself with washing-up liquid before suggesting you buy anything. The condensation guide starts with ten minutes of free habits.
Several guides point readers to a cheaper option or to doing nothing at all.
Products are chosen on availability to Irish buyers and how well they suit Irish homes. How we research sets out the checks in full. No manufacturer or retailer pays to be included, and none sees a guide before it's published.
About the prices you see
Prices on product cards are pulled automatically from the retailer and show when they were last updated. They can change at any time, so the price on the shop's page when you buy is the one that applies.
Running costs on the site are our own calculations at Irish electricity rates, not figures supplied by a manufacturer or retailer.
Free links, too
Most links on RainyDay.ie earn nothing at all.
Links to the HSE, Citizens Information, the RTB, ESB Networks and other public bodies are there because they're the best source, and we'd send you to them whether or not this site earned a cent.
